Boy lost after falling into an open channel in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A 15-year-old boy fell to open storm waterways with his bicycle and was swept in the middle of two hours of heavy rain which destroyed the state capital on Sunday afternoon.
The boy, Jyoti Behera, Dhipisah residents in Baramunda are here, have gone to Shatabdi Nagar for tuition fees.
He has been lost since 2 in the afternoon.
Fire Personnel, Police and those from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) have tried to save him to archiving this report.
They can find the bicycle, which is trapped in the corner of the channel.
“Water flows on the road that connects the mouth of the sewer 8 in Shatabdi Nagar.
The boy might not be aware while passing the mouth of the drain.
He must have sneaked into it and now it might push it deep in the sewer.
The channel is covered to Gandamunda,” said the assistant Sushant Kumar Biswal firefighters.
He added that in four hours of operation they could fish bicycles.
“We have submitted a bicycle to family members.
We have not found other items.
We face difficulties entering the drain due to closed and water overflowing.
We maintain a watch and suspend temporary operations,” Balwal added.
The additional Commissioner of BMC Laxmikanta Seti said the incident occurred in Ward 51.
“Active rescue operation.
Because of the intensity of high storm water, overflowing waterways.
Every possible way is being explored to save the boy,” Sethi said.
City drainage systems and poor storm water management have claimed two lives in the past.
In September 2011, a two-year-old boy sneaked into the sewer while playing near his house in VSS Nagar.
