Coimbatore: A 18-year-old boy who went to Velliankadu near the caramadai to celebrate his friend’s birthday who drowned at Velliankandu Kunjung on Tuesday.
Fire service personnel and rescue from Mettupalayam do a search to take the body until the sunset.
They plan to continue the search on Wednesday morning.
Police said M Manikandan, 18, from Pudur KK near the Saibaba colony, and six friends went to Velliankadu near the caramadai to celebrate their friend’s birthday.
After cutting the cake near Velliankadu Kunaman, Manikandan jumped into the pool to take a shower.
Because he didn’t know swimming, he sank.
His other friends seek help from villagers who also launched search but in vain.
