New Delhi: A 12-year-old boy who suffered from bird flu died in AIIM in the national capital recently, said the official source on Tuesday.
The boy was hospitalized on July 2 with pneumonia and leukemia.
He died on July 12.
While undergoing treatment, tests for Covid-19 and influenza were carried out.
“The sample was tested negatively for Covid-19.
It came out positive for influenza but was not tight.
It was sent to the National Virology Institute, Pune, where they confirmed it was positive for the H5N1 Avian influenza,” said a source.
The details of the case have been delivered to the National Disease Control Center (NCDC) and their team have begun to contact searches and to see if there are more cases with the same symptoms as who the child touches, the source said.
According to sources, the boy is not a resident of Delhi.
