New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd is to supply the oxygen medical class from the Mumbai refinery for the Chospitals run by Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MCGM), the company said in a statement on Saturday.
BPCL will supply 10 to 15 tons per day of oxygen with 93% purity produced through VPSA (adsorption of vacuum pressure swings).
The company will also donate one oxygen compressor with a motor and control system to MCGM.
The company has put a 1.5 km long pipe to supply oxygen from the refinery to the MCGM limit.
Mumbai was hit hard by the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in March, with the level of pepositives in the city among the highest.
The second wave throughout India sees daily demand for medical oxygen increases to around 12 times of what is needed in the pre-covid period, with disaster impact during March, April and early May.
MCGM decentralized the structure of the central war room and created 24 peripheral control spaces in all 24 wards for the reckoned-19-19 response.
Acceptance of patients is only a mandate through the war room, which allows fair access to hospital beds according to the availability in a civil hospital, a dedicated covid health center and private hospital.
