Rio de Janeiro: Brazil became the second country in the world to pass 600,000 Covid-19 deaths on Friday, dark milestones for governments that have been sharply criticized for mismanagement.
President Jair Bolsonaro has attracted the anger of health experts because his failure applies steps to load a pandemic.
He has revealed Lockdown, airing skeptics about the vaccine and refused to wear a mask.
But regardless of the tragic sign on Friday, there are now signs that infection in Brazil finally ebbing, because the state adds vaccination after a slow start.
More than 70% of Brazilians have the first dose, compared to 65% in the US, which passed 600,000 deaths in June.
“The rate of vaccine rejection is very low,” said Alexandre Naime Barbosa, an epidemiologist at Sao Paulo.
“It’s very important for Brazil to load a pandemic.” Brazil also seems to have been spared from the worst Delta variant so far.
Death fell 80% of the peak of more than 3,000 per day in April, and Brazil no longer had one of the highest daily toll roads in the world.
The Ministry of Health enrolled 615 new Covid-19 deaths on Friday, with a total of 600,425 since the pandemic began.
