SAO PAULO: Brazilian Health Agency Council Anvisa has provisarally suspended its import authorization for the Covid-19 Bharat Biotech vaccine while he sought information, he said on Tuesday.
This step is the latest upset with the launch of the country’s vaccine, which has slipped by the investigation of the Senate Committee on the potential of corruption in the process of procuring vaccines.
Anvisa said it decided to suspend “extraordinary and temporary authorization for import and distribution” after Bharat Biotech last week stopped the agreement with the Precorise of his local partner to represent it in Brazil.
Bharat Biotech has no direct comment.
Imported permit, which was issued on June 4, will be deferred until Anvisa receives additional information about vaccines, including technical and legal documents related to shot.
Bharat Biotech has no direct comment.
“The decision also takes into account that unauthorized documents may have been proposed …
which can afflict the conclusion of the institution regarding the quality, safety, and aspects of the efficacy of the vaccine that will be given to the population,” Anvisa statement said.
Based on the indicative price per dose of $ 15, Bharat’s contract to supply 20 million shots to the Brazilian government will be worth $ 300 million.
Bharat Biotech stopped the memorandum of understanding to sell Covid-19 vaccines of Covaxin through a partner with Precisa in Brazil last week.
