Hyderabad: The Brazilian government, who agreed to buy 20 million doses of Bharat Biotech Covid-19 Vaccine Covaxin, on Wednesday announced the suspension of the contract following the allegations of irregularities in the agreement.
“With the recommendation of @cguonline, we decided to temporarily suspend the Covaxin contract.
According to the initial CGU analysis, there was no deviation in the contract, but, because of compliance, @minsaude chose to suspend the contract for further analysis,” Brazil Minister of Health Marcelo Queiroga tweeted.
The Covaxin contract to Brazil landed in controversy after the South American Attorney General reportedly launched the probe into the agreement.
“It should be noted that @govbr does not pay cents for the covaxin vaccine.
The size does not compromise with the speed of the vaccination campaign against # Covid19 in Brazil, because there is no approval of the anvisa for emergency or definitive use of immunization or emergency agent,” Queiroga said in another tweet.
