Patna: The Ministry of Road Construction Department Nitin Nabin on Monday inaugurated the Overbridge of the country’s first mechanical pedestrian in the Public Space in Patna.
There are two lifts on both sides of the foot overbridge (FOB) in the Atal Path of Six Lajur (Phase I) connects S K Puri and Mahesh Nagar in the city.
The minister said the foot overbridge would allow pedestrians to cross the busy road.
“The elevator will help people with disabilities, senior citizens and women with small children to cross the road.
This is the first FOB with an elevator facility in the city,” he said and added: “Now, residents of Mahesh Nagar will be able to easily travel by foot on foot To Patliputra Colony and Boring Road.
“Nabin said the generator also exists for the elevator if there is a power cut.
“Atal path is a world class road.
It has been built like a toll road for troublesome traffic.
In such situations, FOB is needed for pedestrians because the traffic moves quickly on this road,” he said.
The minister said the facilities 53.315×4.6m had been built at a cost of RS3.44 Crore.
“Three more similar fobs will appear on the Atal Road near Rajiv Nagar, Kurji Nullah and Punachak.
This FOBS will be ready on December 2021.
Bihar State Road Development Corporation Ltd.
(BSRDCL) will be responsible for maintenance of FOBs,” Nabin said.
He also appealed to residents to cross the road through FOB for their own safety.
BJP Mla Sanjeev Chaurasia is a special guest on that occasion.
BSRDCL Pankaj Kumar Managing Director, Head of General Manager of Sanjay Kumar, General Manager of Praveen Chandra Gupta, Deputy General Manager Raj Kumar and other BSRDCL officers were also present during the inaugural ceremony.
