Thiruvananthapuram: Passion towards reading and photography brings D Manoj Vaikom to the historic land where the story of the Kunjali and Pookuntabi occurred.
He spent five years complete the photo series ‘SMARAKAHILAKS’ novel written by Puthil Kunjabdullah.
The ‘SMARAKAHILAKAL’ novel is shown in a photo exhibition held at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan.
This is exhibited in the form of a series of photos that put the novel’s main incidents and elements in Spotlight.
The story of the novel has visually recreated and narrated by 47 photos.
Photo caption is usually prepared after the image has been taken.
But here, the photographer has chosen the main quote from the novel and then decided to capture the scenes described by Novelis.
Photographers have been very observing scenes and have provided exceptional results by displaying elements as described in novels.
Elements, including landscapes, mountains, rivers, buildings, months, rain, and places of worship are reflected in the novel.
Other festivals and rituals are also included.
As a result, photographers must wait for several years to complete work.
‘SMARAKAHILAKAL’ is the sixth documentation of Malayalam novels.
Other Malayalam novels, including ‘Nalukett’ by MT Vasudevan Nair, ‘Khasakkinte Ithihasam’ by OV Vijayan, ‘Mayyayazhippuzahyude Theereraraal’ by M Mukundan, ‘The Colekadal Khati Thirumadhuram’ by C Radhakrishnan is also documented.
“When visiting these places, I understood it.
The natural element of the place has changed.
It will never be the same as the author’s words many years ago.
So, I decided to document the places and things before disappearing.
I Having worked hard to document Malayalam novels for the past 15 years.
My goal is to understand how the authors find the elements and incidents of their lives and how they write novels.
My passion for photography and reading makes me look for a new genre in photography called photography literature, “Manoj said.
The exhibition titled ‘Through Memorial Stone’ will expire on December 31.
