Nagpur: In what might be one of the first steps towards conversion to a public company, a weaponry board (OFB) has been requested by the government to bring the price of his hand grenade equivalent to those offered by the Surya Nagpur group.
After the corporation, weaponry factories must compete with the private sector in supplying defense forces.
Workers’ weapons factory calls for attacks that are not limited to corporatization.
Solar Group is the first private company that pocketed orders to make this product.
Economic Explosives Limited (EEL), 100% of subsidiaries of groups, have got orders to make 10 lakh multimodal grenades for the army.
The first batch is expected to be sent immediately.
Multimodal grenades will replace World War II M36 hand grenades.
The grenade is one of the last choice of defense for the army during the battle.
New grenades, which have better accuracy and deadly, can be used for offensive and defensive purposes.
The grenade was developed by a weaponry factory in Khamaria in Jabalpur and eel, based on Drdo technology.
Even when the eel gets an order, the passing forces permitted process takes time to OFB.
After the technical aspect was cleared, ofb lately was asked to match prices with the solar group, which had previously been agreed upon and responded thus.
This will reduce the price offered by OFB by RS1,500-odd.
Each grenade has been priced in the range of RS3,500 to RS4,000, said the source.
With OFB also agreed to reduce tariffs, mass orders from troops were finally expected immediately, said the source.
Previously, OFB was also asked to first prove the shelf life of grenades that should be at least 15 years.
It has responded that with the intensive Shelf Life Assessment (ISA) method as recommended by the Directorate General of Quality General Army (DGQA), will take about two years for the process.
Until then the order must be detained.
On the other hand, the solar group has passed with a faster micro micro calometry method, which was first used in this country.
However, it is used by NATO countries and takes four months to provide results.
Now, the attitude ofb has been received and the shelf life test will begin immediately after the first batch is sent.
With this, mass production and shelf life testing will continue simultaneously.
OFB has insisted that ISA is the only method in its protocol because it must be done with DGQA norms.
It has taken a decade for projects where eels appear as a single qualification company to take part in the offer.
In August 2019, the proposal request document (RFP) was changed by reducing the norms for the time to produce an explosion.
Relaxation is applied to 10% of batches.
The eel and OFB denied they had needed relaxation that said that their grenade had met full accuracy.
