Mumbai: Special Nia Court here on Thursday allows a former police officer Sachin Waze to shift him to a private hospital in Mumbai for the treatment of heart and surgery.
Waze, the defendant in the Antilia bomb scare the murder case of Hiran Mansukh, is currently hospitalized in Thane.
On Tuesday, Waze had submitted an application that was looking for trial instructions to shift him to the hospital in Mumbai, a defense lawyer said.
The prosecution does not oppose its request depending on the condition.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said the defendant could take appropriate medical care and underwent coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) in Mumbai-based private hospitals under the supervision of his doctor.
The agency also urged the court to provide direction to the Prison Authority concerned and the police commissioner to provide adequate security to mingle during treatment.
It also asked the court to allow Waze’s wife to stay with him because it was careful and the decisions needed about his care.
The court, after hearing both sides, allowed Waze’s request.
On August 30, the Nia Court had allowed Waze to be treated at a private hospital for the treatment of his heart disease after he said he did not want to be “Swamy Stan”.
After that, he was hospitalized at Bhiwandi in Thane.
Waze, along with nine accused of another in this case, currently in terms of justice.
He was put forward in Taloja Prison in Navi Mumbai.
An explosive vehicle was found near the Mukesh Ambesh’s South Mumbai Residence Industrialist on February 25.
Mansukh Hiran, a Thane-based businessman, has claimed that the vehicle was stolen from his ownership a week before that.
He was found dead on the river in Thane in March.
Nia claims that Waze was involved in planting explosives and murder of Hiran and arrested him on March 13.
He was then dismissed from police service.
