LONDON: England on Thursday approved one of the envoys of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Alex Saab, in connection with an agreement that was allegedly corrupt to obtain a supply for the Food Subsidy program managed by the Maduro government.
Saab, a colombian citizen, is currently being held at Cape Verde facing extradition to the United States, who accused him of helping the Maduro government skirt imposed in 2019.
Britain said Saab had been agreed with exploiting two Pulido.
The Venezuelan public program was established to supply bad Venezuela with affordable food and housing.
“They benefit from contracts that are not awarded correctly, where the promised items are delivered at a very increasing price,” the British foreign office said in a statement.
“Their actions cause further suffering for Venezuelan people who are hit by poverty, for their own personal enrichment”.
The Saab lawyer cannot be contacted immediately but previously called US allegations “politically motivated.” The Ministry of Information Venezuela did not immediately reply to a comment request.
Saab was arrested in June at Cape Verde after Interpol issued what was called red notice.
At the time of his arrest, Saab was on his way to Iran to negotiate shipping the supply of fuel and humanity to Venezuela, his lawyer told Reuters.
The plane has stopped in an archipelago off the coast of West Africa to refuel.
Also on Thursday British sanctions Teodoro Obiang Mangue, the son of President Guinea Equatorial, because of the abuse of millions of dollars said London was spent on luxury, private jets, and $ 275,000 gloves worn by Michael Jackson.
