Thiruvananthapuram: MP Rajya Sabha John Brittas has asked the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur to cancel the decision to change the name of the Regional FM channel in the capital of Ananthapuri FM to “Vividh Bharati Malayalam”.
In his letter to the Union Minister, he said that regular listeners were both confused by the replacement of Malayalam slots popular with Hindi content.
He said the previous FM station began at the regional level to recognize, encourage, and enrich cultural and linguistic diversity and creativity in each region.
“But the latest actions will really destroy the foundation of the unique concept.
I am worried it is a joint effort as part of a greater conspiracy to suppress pluralism and diversity in the country so as to make the nation shift towards the unitary government system,” said Rajya members Sabha.
