New York: Broadway Theater visitors need to prove that they have been vaccinated for Covid-19 and the mask will be needed when the theater is reopened in the coming weeks, producers announce Friday.
Audience members must wear a face cover and show evidence they are fully vaccinated by the FDA or who have an official vaccine when they enter the theater, the Broadway League said in the news release.
There will be an exception to vaccine rules for children under 12 years, which have not qualified for all approved shots, and for people with medical conditions or religious beliefs that prevent vaccination, the theater operator said.
These people need to show proof of negative Covid-19 tests.
Masks are needed for spectators except when eating or drinking in a designated location.
“Because vaccination has proven the most effective way to stay healthy and reduce transmission, I am happy that the theater owner has decided to implement this collective protection in all our Broadway houses,” said the Broadway League President St.
Martin.
This step came a day after the actor’s equity association, the union represented nearly 52,000 perpetrators and stage managers, said they would need the actor and crew members to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Corporate members who are not vaccinated, including those under 12 years old, must continue to wear a mask, practice physical pauses if possible and undergo testing at least twice a week.
The protocol applies to the production of Broadway and performances that are supported by equity throughout the country.
Performance One person Bruce Springsteen is the only performance that is currently running on Broadway.
Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu “Pass Over” is set to open Wednesday at The Agust August Wilson Theater.
Most of the other theaters will be opened in September or October after being closed since the hit Coronavirus hit in March 2020.
The ticket holder for the show is scheduled until 31 October will be told about vaccination policy, said Broadway League officials.
For performances in November 2021 and so on, theater operators will review policies and make changes if science determines, they said.
