Attari: After 18 months long, the Border Security Force (BSF) has continued by looking at the public from the daily beating retreat, or as it is known popular, flag-lowering ceremonies, held simultaneously by Indian Jawan and their Pakistani Rangers colleagues in Attari (India)) -Wagah (Pakistan) International border.
The general appearance of the ceremony was suspended on March 7, 2020, after the Pandemic Coronavirus.
On average, nearly 20,000 spectators used to visit the international border to watch the ceremony, which is a necessity in the planned trip of every tourist visiting Amritsar.
Kuldeep Singh, BSF, Punjab Frontier, Public Relations officials, told toi on Friday, the ban on the beating retreat exhibition was appointed on September 15.
“Until now, only 300 viewers will be allowed to enter the retreat venue so that Covid 19 Norma can be implemented.” Meanwhile, the commencement of the Fearning ceremony has brought cheers on the face of restaurant owners in Attari, as well as taxi operators and autorickshaw teach tourists from Amritsar .
“Even though it’s too late, we really appreciate the BSF to continue the Fearning ceremony,” said the Operator Autorickshaw Manna who used to produce three to four trips to Attari in a week before the ceremony was closed to the public look.
The Amrit Soni restaurant owner said he was truly out of business since the public view of the flag-lowering ceremony was forbidden.
“I used to get a handsome number of my little restaurant but when visitors stop coming here, I have to find a job of Rs of 9,000 a month.
Hopefully good days will be back soon,” he said.
BSF, however, has not continued public view of the flag-lowering ceremony at the Hussaniwala and Sadqui border.
