Jammu: Security border warning forces (BSF) thwart the offer of the main narcotics smuggling along the international border and seize 10kg heroin in the district of J & K akhoor on Monday.
During the search operation, a BSF party found a backpack hidden under the bushes near the zero line, BSF spokesman digging SPS Sandhu said, added: “The bag was opened with precautions and 10 packages, each weighed heroin, recovered.
“Finally, regular inputs about narcotics smuggling are being accepted and BSF has increased the supervision of the region under its jurisdiction, which leads to the recovery of contraband Monday, said Jamwal BSF IG (Jammu).
On June 23, BSF has thwarted a similar drug smuggling efforts along the international border near Pansar in Kathua Regency and opened fire on Pakistani smugglers.
In accordance with BSF officials, 27kg heroin is worth around RS 135 Crore in the international market, confiscated during the next search of the area.
Last September, BSF had thwarted efforts to smuggle weapons, ammunition and narcotics to India in the Arnia sector.
During the search, 58 packages of alleged narcotics, two pistols, four magazines and other ammunition recovered.
