Cooch Behar / Kolkata: Three Men – The two alleged citizens of Bangladesh and a 35-year-old Indian citizen – died after BSF personnel opened fire on livestock smugglers at the Indian-Bangladeshi border in the Cooch Behar Regional Sitai on Friday.
Officials said a Jawan was also injured because of “criminals” attacked the BSF guard when he was told to surrender, forcing personnel to shoot “self defense”.
BSF initially said his troops had found two bodies of unknown crime between the border fence and international borders.
But the State Police officer insisted on the morning that the third person – an Indian citizen named Prakash Bender – had died.
BSF officers confirm the death of “Indian citizens” for hours later.
