Bongaon: BSF Sub-Inspector Arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 30-year-old Bangladesh woman with the pretext of interrogation in the camp in Gaighata in 24 parganas.
The defendant, Rameswar Kayal, has been sent in police custody for two days after being produced at the Bongaon Court on Thursday.
According to the police source, two women – victims and friends – Residents of Gopalganj in Bangladesh, tried to cross the Jhaudandang border near Gaighata to enter Bangladesh illegally when BSF Jawan from 158 Battalions held them on Wednesday.
In the complaint submitted by the victim at the Gaighata Police Station, BSF Jawan took them to Kharer Math BSF Camp, where Kayal began interrogating them.
Then, he allegedly raped him in the camp when no one else was around, he claimed.
“My friend and I was associated with Sari’s business in Gujarat.
We tried to sneak into Bangladesh with the help of an invalid agent, which took Rs 30,000 from us.
But we were arrested by Jawan.
Then at night, when I was interrogated alone, I was raped, I was raped, “He said.
After being released from the BSF camp, the woman went to the Gaighata police station and filed a complaint.
The police then arrested the defendant.
“Kayal has been ordered based on part 376 of the Criminal Code and sent in police custody.
The secret statement of the woman has been recorded by the judge under the 164 part of the CRPC,” said Samir Das, Head of the Bongaon Acjm Public Prosecutor Court.
A senior district police officer said that the victim was sent to the Bongaon Subdivisional Hospital for a medical test.
The police then also arrested the two women, including victims, because they tried to sneak into Bangladesh illegally.
