Jammu: BSF troops shoot dead three Pakistani men when they try to smuggle narcotics, small arms and ammunition through plastic pipes set on the fence on the international border in the Samba district on Sunday morning.
BSF Jammu Frontier Ig DK Boora said 36 packages containing about one kilo of each drug – allegedly heroin – confiscated in joint operation with 9mm beretta pistol, magazine, nine bullets, knives, nails, and a bottle of cough syrup.
The syrup might be intended to prevent cold coughs that can remind guards.
Smugglers took advantage of the cold and morning fog to approach the border fence, but the BSF guard saw and killed them.
IG Boora praised the troops for their vigilance.
Over the past year, BSF won 79 kg of heroin in the Frontier Jammu, killing nine smugglers, including the three on Sundays, and arrested four.
