Jaisalmer: The border security force (BSF) will start a pilot project to deal with dunes shifting on the international border adjacent to Jaisalmer.
Under the pilot project, local puppies and stump grass will be planted in a square kilometer area.
From March to June, there are strong dust storms from Pakistan.
Because of this, the dunes continue to shift from their place.
It’s more visible at Shahgarh Bulle of Jaisalmer and other regions side by side.
According to BSF, because of a strong dust storm and the wind came from across the border, the large sand canyon continued to change their place.
Strong winds also damage the border fence.
This creates infiltration threats along the border.
During his visit to Jaisalmer, Pankaj Gumar, Inspector General, Border Security Force Frontier Headquarter, Rajasthan has notified that given the threat of cross-border infiltration and drug smuggling, special techniques to prevent pilot Dunes have been developed as a pilot project by the Institute of Research Arid Zone Central (Cazri).
So that the problem of shift in the dunes can be completed.
Cazri has developed other bush planting techniques including Murath grass.
Their roots are very deep and sustain less water.
Their height will also reach 2 to 3 feet so that smugglers and infiltrators cannot enter with their guise.
