Nagpur: A Buddhist Monk (Bhikkhu) stabbed and hammered a fellow woman’s preacher (Bhikkhuni) to death in Shiwali Monastery Bhikshu Niwas in DAK Bungalow on Pipla, Saurner Road, on Sunday in the middle of a high-voltage drama.
The murder is likely to occur during a romantic relationship, police said.
The monk, identified as Dhammanand Therro aka Ramdas Meshram, 58, killed fellow Buddhist monks Shramniri Buddapriya aka Kusum Chavan, 45, followed the heated argument after finding some of the “unpleasant” messages on his cellphone.
Therro then tried to hang himself to death from the ceiling fan but the rope was broken.
After suffering falling, he rushed to go into a well to end his life after murder.
The police said he was seen and came out of the well by the audience, who raised the alarm and warned the Khaparkheda police.
Learned that Therro and Buddapriya were in a live-in relationship for 12 years and lived in the monastery where the incident occurred.
According to the source of the police, Buddapriya has left his family to join the monastery and Therro has also been married to children at home.
The police said Therro faced Buddapriya after he found a message from several other men on his cellphone.
During the heated argument, Buddapriya was studied to question Ferro about his virility, after that things deteriorated.
Senior Inspector PM Bhatkar from the Khaparkheda police station said the monks doubted the moral character of the victim worsened the fight between them.
“Meshram was detained from the place after he acknowledged the murder,” he said.
