PANAJI: The Ministry of Union Education and the Government of the State of the State will collect Rs 1.1 Crore during the 2021-22 academic year to add eggs once a week to eat midday in Goa.
More than a period of six months, more than 93,000 elementary school students in Goa are expected to be given eggs as part of their additional nutrition after school reopened for physical classes.
The state has proposed to introduce eggs in the midday eating scheme during the last academic year, but when schools remain closed due to pandemic, the implementation cannot occur.
Instead, the family of students provided dry quota in lieu of midday food for 2020-21.
The funds for the addition of the midday dietary diet was recently approved at the meeting conducted by officials of the Ministry of Education Union who survived to review the implementation of the scheme in Goa.
This additional nutrition will be provided above and above the middle flour that is presented in the state.
The Government Government will contribute 60% of the funds, while the Goa Government will include 40% of the inside of the 1.1 Crore RS needed to implement the addition of the middle day edge.
Many other states have added to eating midday with eggs, milk, and fruits.
The Goa government too, has considered serving fruit a few years ago through Horticulture Corporation, but the plan failed as maintaining the freshness of the fruit until it reached a challenge.
Now, students will get eggs as part of midday food, which, until now, only seeing vegetarian food served in Goa.
In the previous review, Goa was asked to consider adding additional nutrients to food, such as milk, eggs or fruits.
