Chennai: Minister of Finance Palanivel Thiagarajan on Tuesday said the paperless budget reduced the volume of books printed from 1,600 to 400 and indicated that he reduced state expenditure.
The government has provided 68 to 70 books, amounting to 8,500 pages, for each MLA.
Many legislatives don’t even use it.
Finally, they were bundled and taken to the Mart Paper, the Minister said while replying to AIDMK MLA V V Rajan Chellappa who appealed to the government to distribute books during the debate against the revised budget and agricultural budget 2021-2022.
Although AIADMK MLA welcomed the DMK government initiative for serving a paperless budget and facilitating MLA to use a personal computer, he asked to issue a hard copy.
Initially thought to print only 200 copies to distribute to libraries and other important offices.
But the Chair of the Minister M K Stalin insisted on distributing a hard copy to MLA.
Therefore, they have scored 400 copies, and those who want a hard copy of the bill in the secretariat, he added.
