Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has given a strict three-month deadline for all mass-solid waste generators in the city to start processing wet waste in their buildings and builds the transportation unit of waste treatment in place on October 31.
Commissioner MCC Akshy Sridhar held a meeting on the rules for managing solid waste 2016 and the prime processing solid waste company Mangaluru Corporation at the Mangala Auditorium on MCC on Tuesday.
The meeting explained the investigation that occurred on a direct petition on the management of mangalore city waste which was submitted in the High Court.
The meeting also discussed the progress made in the implementation of solid waste regulations to be investigated by the government.
The participants were told about the period in which the direction of waste management must be carried out.
Apartments with more than 30 households and companies (hotels, hospitals, lodges, wedding rooms, catering, etc.) should be required to build composting units in place and process waste at the source.
Notice of the same thing issued for all bulk solid waste generators.
Consider the severity of the current waste disposal system, all stakeholders are given a strict three months to start processing wet waste in their buildings.
Directions are also issued to build composting units that adopt technology to process wet waste developed by companies approved by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Commissioner said.
“If the bulk solid waste generator fails to comply with the guidelines and do not build a waste processing unit in place before October 31, they will be fined double every day starting from November 1 during the driving for waste collection,” Commissioner warned.
