PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Friday asked officials to construct a boundary wall around the entire Mithapur institution campus to give it a proper look of an institutional area.
He gave this direction after making a ground-level inspection of Mithapur area and reviewing a presentation on “Proposed facilities in Mithapur institution campus.” The presentation was made by the Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation (BSEIDC) managing director Sanjay Kumar Singh at the Aryabhatta Knowledge University’s (AKU) administrative building.
The AKU is located inside the Mithapur institution campus.
Being developed as Bihar’s first-ever education hub, the Mithapur institution campus is proposed to accommodate more than six premier universities / institutions.
Hailing the concept of Mithapur pond project which is being developed inside the campus, Nitish asked the officials to build a common link road so that people from all proposed institutions could easily reach up to the pond.
“Also plant a maximum number of saplings around the pond so that its entire area looks like a green region,” the CM told the officials accompanying him during the campus inspection.
He also suggested making a proper arrangement for draining out surplus water from the pond.
Nitish further asked the Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh to shift the operation of all buses to the newly-built Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) from the existing Mithapur bus stand.
Sources said, the land of Mithapur bus stand has been allotted to the Pataliputra University for building its new administrative campus.
The Patna district administration has already decided to shut the Mithapur bus stand by July 15 and operate all buses from the ISBT.
The CM also ordered for shifting of the power sub-station located near the Mithapur institution campus, to some other appropriate location.
Accompanied by deputy CM Tar Kishore Prasad and all top bureaucrats including chief secretary Tripurari Sharan, the CM earlier in the morning visited Mithapur area to have a ground-level inspection of the institutional campus and the redevelopment plan of Patna Junction railway station under the Patna Smart City project.
During the inspection, he gave several instructions to the concerned officials.
Soon after reaching the AKU campus, he took information about the current status to education institutions/ universities coming up in the Mithapur institutional area.
He also went to the covid-19 vaccination centre inside the AKU campus and inquired about the ongoing vaccination programme.
The urban development and housing department (UDHD) principal secretary Anand Kishor made a presentation on “Developmenrt of Mithapur area” before the CM at the AKU’s administrative building.
The CM also held discussion with the officials on the proposed subway to Patna Junction via multi-level parking.
