Building covid infrastructure for children in Assam looks doubtful

Guwahati: Apart from the commemoration of the United States to the countries to prepare for child care and Niti Aayog advisors to make preparations for 23% inpatient in the case of a surge in Covid cases in the near future, the state government focuses more on the reopening of the school.
The target of building covid infrastructure for children in the state also seems doubtful.
The state government has planned 1,000 pediatric intensive care units (PICU), where minimum goals are 10 in each district.
But the State Health Department and National Health Mission officials cannot say anything about progress achieving this goal in June.
“There is no estimate of how many children can be influenced by the third wave, if it comes.
How did Niti Ayog tell us about the percentage of children to be beaten? When it happens, then only we can know the tariff for Covid infection among children Children, “said the main secretary for the Ministry of Health and the welfare of the family, Anurag Goel.
He further said the State Health Department has its own plan to overcome the crisis if it comes and works towards the end.
Assam will complete 10 triggers in each district hospital to treat children under 18 years, while the numbers are suitable for all medical colleges at least 30.
However, the target has not been achieved.
The health department’s sources say five to eight percent of total covid infections in the first and second waves are children in the state.
But given the warning from the center, this number might rise further in possible third wave attacks.
During the fourth national sero survey for antibodies to SARS-COV-2, the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) detected the prevalence of Sero in children equivalents with adults in Assam.
During the study conducted on the second wave, children between six and 14 years were found to have similar sero prevalence in the range of 39.4% to 52.2%, as in adults.
When contacted, the Director of Medical Education Assam, Dr.
Anup Kumar Barman, said, “Our experience says the severity of this disease can be more in the case of children only because they are not vaccinated.
Covid symptoms are lower among people who are vaccinated.
But since Children have fewer comorbid conditions, there may be less deaths among children.
“The government’s sources said the threat of Covid infection among children would not thwart the state government’s plan to reopen school since September 1 front.
“The third wave may not attack and children may not be hit.
We will open school in September,” said Dr.
Manoj Choudhury, executive director at NHM, Assam.
He said the state health infrastructure had received a big boost because a pandemic broke and the number of ICU beds increased from 400 to 1500.
