Patna: Dr.
R K Dhiman, Director of the Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGimer) Chandigarh, said on Saturday that only extensive awareness can help curb the spread of deadly diseases such as Hepatitis C and B in the country.
While giving special lectures specifically to commemorate the 39th Foundation Day at the Institute of Indira Gandhi (IGIM) Medical Sciences, Dr.
Dhiman quoted a punjab example, where the spread of hepatitis C has reached alarming level.
This is mainly due to unhealthy practices of some drug injection addicts using the same syringe.
It is a simple virus transmission method from one person to another, and gradually causes diseases that spread rapidly, requiring direct intervention by pgimers and state governments.
The doctor stated, “Pirimer established a bond with all Punjab districts, especially regions and villages known as the most affected, and publicly educated on damaging consequences of sharing syringes to inject several people.”
