LONDON: The Clash of the Premier League Watford at Burnley was postponed less than three hours before kick-off because of the “Covid outbreak ongoing” in the Hornets team on Wednesday.
Burnley revealed the match at Turf Moor was canceled at the last minute after their opponents were hit by Coronavirus.
“Burnley Football Club can confirm the match tonight against Watford has been postponed because of the ongoing Covid outbreak in opposition forces,” Claret said in a statement.
It was the third Premier League match which was postponed because Covid in the last week when the new Omicron variant caused catastrophe to the top English.
Tottenham’s trip to Brighton, last week was summoned because of the plague at the North London club, while Manchester United’s match in Brentford on Tuesday was canceled after the positive test of the Old Trafford club.
Some matches in the second level championship have also been postponed recently because of the Covid case.
“With regret the Premier League Board has postponed Burnley FC home appliances against Watford FC,” said a Premier League statement.
“The decision was taken after guidance from the medical advisor because of the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak in the Watford squad.
As a result, the club has the number of first team players who are insufficient to meet the match.” The Premier League understands this decision.
