Bhubaneswar: Bus rates have risen on Saturday after the increase in diesel prices in this country.
The ordinary and express category bus rates increased with three Paise per kilometer while Deluxe and AC Deluxe Bus rates increased by six Paise per kilometer.
The super premium category bus rates have been upgraded by nine Paise per km.
The usual bus will burden 92 Paise per km compared to the previous rates of 89 Paise per km, while the Express Bus will burden 96 Paise per km with the previous rate of 93 Paise per km.
Similarly, this Deluxe and AC Deluxe tariff has been carried out by Rs 1.35 per km and Rs 1.63 per km.
For super premium buses, passengers must pay Rs 2.53 per km against the previous level of Rs 2.44 per km.
If a passenger wants to take Rourkela’s trip from Bhubaneswar (around 335km) on a normal bus, he must pay Rs 308 from Saturday and so on.
This tariff is Rs 322 for the Express Bus, RS 452 for the Deluxe category, RS 546 for Bus Category Super Premium AC Deluxe and RS 848.
Official notifications issued by the State Transport Authority said bus rates were increasing due to price increases per liter of diesel from RS 97 , 25 at 1 to Rs 102.34 as on Saturday.
Debendra Sahu, Secretary General of the Association of Personal Bus Owners, said the bus rates have increased according to the mechanism of revising automatic rates.
“Bus rates increase by one Paisa for each increase in Rs 2 in the price of fuel,” he added.
He told the center and the state government must reduce excise taxes and VAT on diesel to reduce gasoline and diesel prices.
“People will obviously face difficulties because of a steep increase in diesel and the impact on the cost of the bus,” he added.
On March 4, the normal and express category bus rates were enhanced by five Paise per kilometer, while Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses were enhanced by 10 Paise per kilometer.
The Super Premium category bus rates have increased 15 Paise per km.
