Debendra Sahu, Secretary General of the Association of Personal Bus Owners, said the bus rates have increased according to the mechanism of revising automatic rates.
“Bus rates increase by one Paisa for each increase in Rs 2 in the price of fuel,” he added.
He told the center and the state government must reduce excise taxes and VAT on diesel to reduce gasoline and diesel prices.
“People will obviously face difficulties because of a steep increase in diesel and the impact on the cost of the bus,” he added.
On March 4, the normal and express category bus rates were enhanced by five Paise per kilometer, while Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses were enhanced by 10 Paise per kilometer.
