Buxar: The toll in the alleged Hooch Case in Buxar rose to six on Friday with one villagers losing his life.
Previously, five people had died allegedly after consuming fake liquor in Amsari Village under the Murá police station area in the Buxar district on Wednesday night.
The sixth victim was identified as Antoj Kumar Singh aka Bunty Singh.
Antoj is the brother of Bhirung Singh, who also died of alleged HOOCH consumption.
Four other victims were Anand Kumar Singh (40), Sukul Mahahar, Minku Singh (42) and Shivmohan Yadav (50).
The district government has claimed on Thursday that villagers died after consuming “white chemistry”, not fake liquor.
Buxar SP Neeraj Kumar Singh has suspended the Murá Police Station, Sub-Inspector and Chowkidar Village following the incident.
“The police have detained four people to interrogate in connection with this case.
We also collected samples of chemicals from the place and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory for the exam,” SP said.
He added, “Only forensic reports will confirm whether the villagers consume toxic drinks or not.
Bunty died after the oxygen level fell.
According to his statement, he had consumed several white substances.” Meanwhile, the district administration has launched a drive consciousness, especially in Damlet Dalit, following the incident.
“After the ban on liquor was forced in the state in April 2016, we activated the ‘Nasha Mukti Kendra’ in the city of Buxar.
The Incident of Amsari Village was unfortunate,” Buxar DM Safe Samir said on Friday.
