Kolkata: Bakeaghata Traffic Protector is the first in the city to temporarily suspend the four-wheel driver license because it does not wear a helmet.
They were called for hearing carried out by ACP Alok Sanyal on Monday and Tuesday.
The license has been suspended for three months and everyone has been fined Rs 1,000.
The four were arrested in buying the main road, Tangra Main Road and Chingrighata Crossing.
At least three other traffic guards – South, Jorabagan and Southwest – also began calling offenders to explain why they did not follow the rules.
This step began after Lalbazar directed all traffic guards to crack down on a helmet, speed up and driving.
“The suspension number is likely to increase in the next 48 hours because many of those who are called failed to give an explanation or not appear,” said a Lalbazar officer.
Headquarters has asked all senior police officers to offer violators of three opportunities to present themselves before the decision is taken, quoting non-compliance.
An officer from Garda Beleaghata said they would also call up threefold after the trial for an unrestrated trip.
“The penalty will be the same,” he said.
The police during the weekend was charged with 289 motorists for Triple0riding (SEC 128, MV ACT) and 547 because they did not wear helmets (MV Act 129).
