BYJU’s acquires a US digital reading platform for $ 500 million

Bengaluru: The Byju’s education technology platform has obtained an epic US digital reading platform, which focuses on children 12 and below, for $ 500 million.
This acquisition will increase BYJU’s strategy to grow his footsteps in the US and bridge the gap of learning among children there.
The latest developments coincide with the plan player Ed-Tech India to invest $ 1 billion in North America.
The epic acquisition marks one of the larger acquisitions after the BYJU coding platform purchased by WHITEHAT JR for $ 300 million last year.
Epic has collected $ 51 million for now.
BYJU, worth $ 16.5 billion, acquired Osmo based in the US, educational game maker, for $ 120 million two years ago.
Recently, BYJU’s and Walt Disney launched a co-branded learning application targeted at Kindergarten to class 3 students.
“BYJU redefines the way children learn to use technology as a strong enabler both to make an interesting and more important interactive format, To personalize recommended books for children based on their reading skills.
Epic is the largest B2C Ed-Tech platform for this age group in the US.
We have a strong presence in India and it explains the complementary nature of geographical presence and expertise.
Reading is a strong learning format.
By creating love reading, you create love to learn, “said Byju Ravedran, founder, and CEO, BYJU.
It has a strong community of more than 100 million students globally.
This acquisition will help Bengaluran-based companies expand the US trail which utilizes more than two million teachers and 50 million children in the Global Epic Userbase, which is more than double over the past year.
Markosian said that this platform was designed to personalize the habit of reading children who put the right book in front of the right child.
“Epic adjusts to their interest rates and learning platforms and grow with children.” He said 150 strange employees would be part of the new Epic trip.
Markosian and Donahue will remain in their role and continue to carry out the EPIC mission to open the potential of every child through reading.
BYJU said that the integration process was ongoing and they would maintain the founding mentality when they joined the BYJU ecosystem.
“The acquisition failed because the company integrated the platform, but the company failed to integrate people,” he said.
Donahue said epic had created a sound reading tool and functions on a subscription model.
Epic has made free access to educators and more than 2 million teachers have registered for class use in the US.
“We see it as an ecosystem to read and study and with children in the middle.” BYJU has begun laid the foundation for active learning through synchronous and asynchronous learning programs.
BYJU’s future school, one-on-one direct learning platform for mathematics and coding released last month which empowers 11,000 female teachers to help students learn these things in an interesting and interactive way.
Byju acquired Osmo two years ago, and integration had seen the Osmo scale since then.
