New Delhi: The Election Commission on Saturday announced the Bypolls to the three assembly seats in West Bengal, including Bhabanipur from where CM Mamata Banerjee intends to compete, and a seat in Odisha.
Polling for the four seats will be held on September 30 and the vote count will be taken in October 3.
However, deciding not to hold Bypolls because in three Lok Sabha constituencies – Dadra & Nagar Haveli; Bathing in Himachal Pradesh; And Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh – and 31 seat assembly in 15 states until after the celebration season, citing constraints such as Covid, Flood and Festival situations as delivered by the state.
The poll panel also announced a harder set of restrictions to ensure a safe Bypoll campaign in Covid, limit the presence at a room in room up to 200 people or 30% of the capacity of the venue, which is lacking, and for outdoor meetings up to 50% of land capacity.

In Samserganj and Jangipur in West Bengal and Pipli in Odisha, the campaign will be permitted only 8 days as candidates have available campaign periods from April 29 to May 3.
