Mumbai: Mumbai police registered a man for allegedly demanding money from the owner of the T-Series company and producer Krishhan Kumar earlier this month because he did not submit a case of rape against his nephew and the company’s implementing director Bhushan Kumar, said an official on Saturday.
The FIR was registered at the Amboli Police Station on Friday night against One Malikarjun Pujari for extortion and other charges of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC), a day after a violation was registered against Bhushan Kumar for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman under the pretext of giving her a job in her company Between 2017 and 2020.
“A layout of extortion was registered in Malikarjun Pujari who was allegedly approached Krisan Kumar between 3 and 10 July this year demanded money not to file a complaint of the rape of Bhushan Kumar,” the official said.
Pujari tried to squeeze Krishan Kumar with the first accusation of rape against Bhushan Kumar and threatened to slander the last picture in the media, the official cited the first information report.
The accusation was thought to tell Kishan Kumar that the female friend would kill Bhushan Kumar if the money was not paid, he said.
A case was registered against Pujari below section 386 (extortion by placing someone in fear of death or injured sadness), 500 (punishment for defamation), and criminal intimidation under it 506 and 506 (2) IPC, the official said, added Without arrests made so far.
In accordance with the FIR registered against Bhushan Kumar, 43, he allegedly raped the woman with the pretext of providing work to him in some of his company’s projects, police said.
FIR was registered at the Police Station D N Nagar in Suburban Andheri.
The sources in the police department said that the complainants knew Kumar for the past few years and he was suspected sexually exploited him between 2017 and 2020 in various places.
The woman said she was cheated by her and therefore she approached the police, according to the police.
In a statement issued for the media, the T-Series on Friday denied the allegations and said the company was in the process of consulting their lawyers and “will take appropriate legal action”.
