Nagpur: The number of victims on the side of Maois at the Gadchiroli meeting rose to 27 on Tuesday when the body of the Sukhla Parchapi rebel leader was found in the field of hills and forested Mardintola near the border of Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh in North Gadchiroli.
On November 13, C60 Jawan from the Gadchiroli police had restored 26 Maoist cadres, including the leader of Rebel Top Millind Teltumde, from the same area.
The police claimed the body of Parchapi was found stuck between two stones and was found after a substantial search based on the input from the Jawan C60 which had seen it with bullets.
The Parchapi was promoted to the ranks of the Special Zonal Committee of Dandakyarya, a few months ago entrusting it with greater regional responsibilities because of its seniority and “effectiveness”.
Previously it was assumed that the parchapi might escape from the meeting place.
The police have not yet come to any conclusion about the reasons that might be behind Maois from two countries, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, camping in the place in a very large amount.
On Tuesday, the Gadchiroli police managed to identify seven bodies, which also included another bodyguard of Teltumde’s Central Committee members.
Bodyguard was identified as a Somda aka Naresh Uika, a native Dantewada in Chhattisgarh.
Previously, the body of two Teltumde’s bodyguards had been identified.
The police so far ensured the identity of 23 rebels killed, including 14 of Chhattisgarh.
Four bodies have not been identified.
SP Ankit Goyal said the neutral cadre of Chhattisgarh was identified based on the input from the country’s police and also records available with the district police headquarters.
It was studied seven bodies had been handed over to family members from the deceased while the break had been stored in the morgue of the Gadchiroli Regency General Hospital.
Goyal said the neutral cadre family from Chhattisgarh was contacted through the local police, who took the time because of their remote location.
“We will cremate an unclaimed body after a certain period according to the law,” he said.
Responding to several media reports, Goyal did not rule out the possibility of several parts of the meeting that spilled to Chhattisgarh because the field was hilly.
“Maoists are spread in a substantial area because some of you and the formation are present when the meeting occurs,” he said.
