New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that the decision of the Union Cabinet on the National Mission in oil palm oil that can be eaten will be a “game-changer” in helping oil palm farmers and creating independent India.
The Cabinet approved the financial expenditure of Rs 11,040 Crore to promote domestic cultivation of oil palm in the next five years and reduce the dependence of the country on edible oil imports.
In Tweet, Modi said, “The decision of the cabinet today about the National Mission on Palm Oil – Palm Oil will be a game-changer when it comes to helping palm oil farmers and creating Bharat Aatmanirbhar.
Northeast Islands, and Andaman and Nicobar will specifically benefit from this.
“Reacting to the decision of another cabinet, the prime minister said the revival of the Corporation of North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing will greatly help farmers in the region and will further popularize the products northeast across India.
The cabinet also provides a nod to ratify Kigali amendments to phase-down hydrofluorocarbon (HFCs) by India under the Montreal protocol on the ozone layer.
