New Delhi: Head of the Karnataka Minister Basavara Bommai on Friday said the expansion of the cabinet which will soon occur early next week after increasing Covid and flood cases in several districts in the state.
Bommai, who at his first visit to Delhi as the main minister, said he “explained the need for an initial cabinet expansion” at a meeting with BJP President J P Nadda.
“We will get a nod on Sunday.
I have not discussed a list of possibilities in today’s meeting.
But said the need for the initial decision about this problem,” he told reporters here.
Bommai said he could visit Delhi again about this problem and look for time from BJP high command.
Extending the Ministry will be the first major challenge before BOMMAI because he must navigate through the cabinet formation exercises by maintaining a balance between the faction in BJP in power.
There are several candidates among the party’s old guards, and legislators who have joined BJP after stopping from the Congress-JD (s) coalition in 2019.
Bommai also explained that the government would not be a stamp rubber.
“There is no bommai stamp or rubber stamp, my administration will only only have a BJP stamp,” he said.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bommai said he updates it about Covid and flood situations.
“I discussed the lack of vaccination in the state.
Prime Minister has convinced full support,” he added.
Bommai also announced preparing a small working group to track the fast distance from central projects and made Karnataka Commissioners in proactive and accountable Delhi.
Apart from the Prime Minister, Bommai asked Minister of Internal Affairs Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of Parliament Pralhad Joshi and Minister of Jal Shakti.
He also held lunch for parliamentarians from the state at the Ashoka Hotel here.
Bommai, who was chosen as the new leader of the BJP Legislative Party on Tuesday, took part in the resignation of B Yediyurappa, vowed the main minister on Wednesday.
