Bengaluru: Immediately, online games for money and bet in the state are likely to be considered a criminal activity, which can with prison sentences of up to three years or RS 1 Lakh.
The cabinet, who met on Saturday, agreed to the Karnataka Police (Amandment) bill that seeks to ban online games involving profits or profits.
The move came to the complaint from the organization and parents who were looking for action.
“The bill will be submitted in the Monsun session (starting September 13),” said Minister of Law and Parliament JC Madhuswamy.
A month ago, Madras High Court has declared similar laws imposed by the Tamil Nadu government to ban online betting games as Ultra Vires (the action of a delegated legislation body that affects fundamental rights guaranteed to the public).
Madhuswamy says all online games are played using computers, cellphones and on social media platforms and bets in the form of tokens, electronic transfers of money and virtual currencies will be prohibited.
However, the lottery and horse racing run on race courses inside and outside the country are not under PurView bills.
