Cachar & Karimganj paid more than RS 1,000 / cylinder

Guwahati: The increase in gas prices cooking at least once a month has burned a hole in the pockets of ordinary people who have been shaken under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on their monthly budget.
The price of 14.2 kg domestic cylinder LPG has recorded a more than 47% increase in the past 12 months.
The domestic LPG cylinder sold at RS 643 in Guwahati in October last year is now available at RS 948.50 this month.
Surge RS 15 announced on October 6 was the fourth increase in LPG prices since July.
Previously, tariffs increased by Rs 25.50 per cylinder in July, while RS 25 respectively on August 17 and September 1.
However, the price of LPG cylinders varied from the district to the state.
Cachar and Karimganj District Barak Valley in Assam has topped the list, where prices are pegged at Rs 1,034.50 on Monday, followed by RS 972 in Hojai and West Anglong carriage and RS 965.50 in Sonitpur and Udalgguri.
A pro oil company said the main reason for various prices depends on the cost of transportation.
“The price of petroleum products depends on the international market.
Thus, fluctuating prices,” the officer added.
The basic price of refill domestic LPG is Rs 612.38 in October last year, which has reached RS 889.04 this month.
On the other hand, state tax and center and service tax have also reached Rs 22.22 from Rs 15.31.
The domestic LPG cylinder price is Rs 433 in April 2016 before the establishment of the BJP government in the state.
Domestic household kitchens, who have the right to get 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg each with subsidized rates in a year, and the beneficiary of Ujwala, who get free connections, now pay market prices.
Assam has 58.93 lakh bpl (below the poverty line) as mentioned in the Assam budget 2021-22.
State Minister for Petroleum and Gas Rameswar Teli Gas refrain from commenting on the increase in LPG and fuel and the steps taken by the government to offer assistance to ordinary people by limiting increases.
Senior Congress leader Debabrata Saikia said: “BJP government is at least disturbed about the part of a poor society.
LPG prices and fuel soaring continuously.”
