CALANGUTE: Minister of Port and Calangute Mla Michael Lobo on Tuesday inaugurated a new park near the Arpora-Calangute bridge which featured the statue of Portugal Football Player Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Ronaldo is a global legend.
He is an inspiration for all young Goan players and aspires high.
They all want to be like Ronaldo.
Football is a sport of Goa State.
We want our footballer to be a legend like Ronaldo.
This statue will inspire them,” Lobo said while launching the beauty of open space, landscaping, park with fountains and trails at Agarwaddo, Calangute.
This park is the Zilla Panchayat project taken by Calangute members ZP DataPrasad Dabholkar along with Calangute Pancayat and Minister of Lobo.
Meanwhile, several locals held a black flag demonstration on the sidelines of the launch.
President of the Calangute Premanand Constituency Forum, which is part of the protest, said a sculpture of the great Goan footballer from Calangute will be more appropriate in place and say they are opposed.
