Hubballi: Head of Karnataka Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said the decision to expand his cabinet would be taken on the advice of the BJP high command, after the state legislative winter session, starting next week.
Currently 30 ministers in the Cabinet of State, including the Minister of Chief, with the strength of sanctions 34.
“The first thing now before the government is the legislative council poll, then assembly (legislative session), after that on leadership suggestions, will make a further decision,” Bommai said in response to the question of expansion of the cabinet.
The state legislative winter session is scheduled to be held from December 13 to 24 in the Border District of Bellagavi.
A week after taking over as the main minister, Bommai on August 4 has expanded his new cabinet, triggered 29 ministers.
With too many candidates, Bommai is under pressure to expand the cabinet and fill four empty beds.
Some senior MLA, which has become part of BJP from the beginning, upset with the cabinet expansion in August, when they were abandoned and “outsiders” got preferences.
The term ‘outsiders’ in the BJP circle refers to the congress and JD (s) MLA who left their parties in 2019 and joined the Safron Party.
They were disqualified from assembly, followed which they commanded by Bypolls and was chosen on BJP tickets.
Responding to questions about achieving understanding by JD (s) for the legislative council poll, Bommai said “H D Kumaraswamy must tell about JD (s) ‘Stand.” There is a buzz that increases the possibility of the pact between BJP and JD which is in power to the upcoming legislative council polls, after the full appearance of Bonhomie between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Patriarch regional party H D Deve Gowda, in Delhi last week.
The biennial election to the Karnataka legislative council of 20 selection of local authorities for 25 seats, because the pension of the sitting member, will be held on December 10, 10 countries BJP Strongman and former BS Yediyurappa minister’s chairman openly seek JD support in the chair where regional parties do not fight.
JD (s) has reduced only six candidates, while BJP and Congress fights each other in 20 seats.
