Gurgaon: The Gurujal community suffered by the district government has created a rainy harvesting calculator (RWH) based on the city’s rainfall record for the past 30 years.
Officials say residents can access RWH calculators on the portal.
Portal – Gurujal.org/Rwh-Calculator/ – will also provide information about vendors that can regulate the rainwater harvest system recommended by the calculator.
“According to a survey conducted by a central ground water board, the city can refill 1,190squk land, from a total area of 1,258 SQKM, through artificial and natural methods.
So, this makes us a lot of scope to refill groundwater.
The most effective method To recharge our ground water table is through rainwater harvest, “said Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg.
A citizen who wants to install a harvesting system must provide data about their roof area, the surface of the green area and the block they live in.
After this detail is given, the calculator will plan the capacity and potential for recharge of the annual harvesting system.
“The catchment area to recharge must be cleaned before the rainy season arrives every year.
Recharge Chambers will be checked and cleaned with seven day intervals or more often during the rainy season,” Read the instructions on the portal.
