San Diego: A 22-year-old nurse student begged guilty on Tuesday to kill and other charges in connection with the deadly shooting in the southern California synagogue on the last day of the passover.
John T.
Earnest avoided the death penalty with his request at San Diego Court Superior.
The San Diego District lawyer office said he agreed to serve the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole in a country prison.
The sentence is scheduled for September 30.
Earnest opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle during the last day of Easter service in April 2019 at Chabad Poway.
The attack killed Lori Gilbert-kaye aged 60 years and injured three others, including a 8-year-old girl and rabbi, who lost one finger.
Earnest was then called 911 to say he had shot a synagogue because the Jews tried to “destroy all white people,” said the authorities.
