Calls grow for more sites in Pune when 100s in a hurry for doses-II

Pune: Public health experts and those aged 45-plus have now urged district officials to open more vaccine sites to serve a rapidly growing list of securities in the region.
On Monday, many sites in the PMC area and PCMC saw many beneficiaries appearing for shots.
In Sangvi, Lawns Balaji vaccination site quickly overwhelmed by a crowd that had appeared for 200 doses provided.
But the vaccinator on the site said they only had 100 doses.
Many residents are rejected.
According to estimates, at least 5 lakh people who have received their vaccine in the first week of April now qualify for their second dose.
The number is expected to reach 14 lakh in July.
Officials are preparing for chaos.
“Two weeks ago, we returned a dose.
But now we don’t have enough.
The argument between vaccination staff and residents became increasingly common,” said an official with the PMC vaccination unit.
Dayalal Jadhav, the recipient on the site Sangvi, said his sons had to argue with staff to get two tokens for him and his wife.
“They must add sites to facilitate crowding,” he said.
There is an exchange heated in the Shakuntalabai Shakuntalabai school vaccination site too.
Ashok ASOLe, said he had ordered a slot on Saturday only to be told to come on Monday.
“And now, it seems that officials here don’t know how to vaccinate the beneficiaries of Monday that don’t accept their shots,” he said.
PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil said the Civic body will now use more staff to ensure a smooth drive.
Rubal Agarwal, the additional PMC commissioner, said the feasibility for the second dose was from 12 to 16 weeks.
“So, even if someone meets the requirements on the 84th day, he can wait two to three more weeks.” He added that PMC would certainly increase the number of sites.
