Campgrounds Evacuated like French Battles Wildfire near Saint-Tropez

Grimaud: French firefight officer was hampered by strong winds struggling to hold wildfire that spread quickly in the hills behind the city of Saint-Tropez Beach on Tuesday because the camps were packaged with tourists evacuated.
The aircraft carrying water and 900 firefighters handled Blaze, which began on Monday on Monday in the highway service area, according to local media.
Extreme heat waves have hit most Mediterranean regions in recent weeks, with forest fires from Spain and Greece to Turkey raise uncomfortable questions for the readiness of global warming and countries.
The French API, which hit several villages in the area of the South Var, spread quickly last night when strong winds pushed the flames at 5,000 hectares (12,350 hectares) of land, burning around 3,500 so far.
“We are really surrounded by fire,” said Stephane Gady, the Mayor of La Mole Village, located near a pine forest close to the French Riviera.
Gady and his team were almost stranded after being arrested by fire on the outskirts of the village on Monday night, he said.
There is no life lost in the area, according to Gady and local authority in Var, but around 100 houses were destroyed.
The camp at Grimaud was destroyed to the ground.
Car houses that are scorched are spread across the location.
At least six other campsites in the Var area were evacuated, the VAR Prefect office said.
Another local mayor, Philippe Leonelli, said the seaside city in Cavalaire was spared, and now protects around 2,000 people from the nearest campsites in gymnasium and event events.
“This time the fire spread in three hours through the area which will usually be discussed in 48.
It’s crazy, that’s how fast everything goes,” Leonelli said, adding several colleagues had lost their homes.
Cavalaire is usually home for around 10,000 people, but the population swells up to 90,000 during the summer months.
The villages of La Croix Valmer and Grimaud were also beaten.
Alexandre Joupsard, an emergency service spokesman, said some locals were told to live in a room with wet sheets under the door instead of escaping, to prevent chaos on the road.
Authorities warn that more fires can break in the surrounding area.
Minister of Home Affairs Gerald Darmanin said he would visit Gonfaron and that reinforcements needed will be sent.
Authorities urged people not to go around the area, known for its beaches and coastal cities.
They are also advised to avoid the shaft between Bormes-Les-Mimosas, where President Emmanuel Macron is for his summer retreat, to Saint-Tropez.
Elsewhere in the area, two forest fires, also furnished by strong winds, gathered out of control near Athens on Monday, forcing village evacuation.
