After a developing hub for commercial activities, Vasco is now deactivating a nursing display.
Broke the road, the buildings in the ruins and debris debris on what should be the establishment of a new bus and fire station, Vasco was a decade behind other cave urban pockets, according to its citizens.
“Apart from the development of the Double Engine promised by BJP and holding this decade over the election, Vasco has not seen many improvements,” said a resident toi.
With the election of the State Assembly scheduled for February 14, two election power plants – Carlos Almeida and Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar – arranged to cross the sword again.
However, in battle for Vasco, camps have changed.
Almeida, this time on a congressional ticket, took a new record to become the first MLA Vasco to win the third term in a row.
Salkar has its own points to prove to BJP.
Unlike 2017, when BJP refused Salkar and said his belief in Almeida, this time around the Safron party had placed their faith in the Chairperson of the Planning and Development of Labor Mormagao (MPDA).
Each selection brings haphazard development Vasco back to focus.
There is coal transportation, dust pollution, chaotic traffic and poor sanitation.
Over the past 10 years, the promised Kadamba bus stand project has been jammed, a critical fire station, was destroyed five years ago, operating from temporary facilities and all plans to build the right fish market.
Post-Suntrighhood, Vasco voters never gave MLA as if the second in a row, but Almeida managed to create a note with the re-election in 2017.
Refusing tickets by BJP in 2017, Salkar was contested as 1,351 votes independent and lost by 1,351.
.
Locals said in a straight battle between BJP and Congress, Salkar and Almeida were ready to be evenly distributed.
However, with TMC Fielding Saifullah Khan and with the former Chairman of the Municipal Board of Mormugao (MMC) and former Congressman Nandadeep Raut joined BJP, the Salkar campaign had received the main Fillip.
Khan is a former chairman of the Minority Congress of the wing and former Chair of the Mormugao City Council, whose influence cannot be ignored.
Raut, which is a competitor for Congress tickets in Vasco, will also take advantage of his political influence to influence things to Almeida, which is ironic is his political mentor.
Note the industrialist Goan Narayan ‘Nana’ bandekar, the influential voice in Vasco, and NCP President Jose Philip D’Souza – now fighting from Dabolim – can also play an important role in elections.
Vasco’s constituency has most voters among all 40 elections with Hindus making the majority of voter base, followed by Christians and Muslims.
The constituency also has a significant migrant population, especially in Mangor Hill, Gandhinagar, Shantinagar and Fakir Galli.
Migrant voters, political observers say, will play an important role in determining whether Almeida scored a hat-trick or if Salkar became a member of parliament.
