Toronto: Canada again exceeded the prohibition of passenger flights, arrived directly from India, until September 21 because the risks caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Federal Transportation Department had said.
In April, Canada forbade all direct flights to and from India when the second Covid-19 wave hit India.
“Protecting the health and safety of Canadians continues to be our top priority.
After reviewing public health data, we have decided to extend direct flight prohibitions between Canada and India until September 21, 2021,” Omar Alghabra, Minister of Transportation on Tuesday.

Transport Canada released a statement on Monday, said that based on the latest advice from the Canadian public health agency, they extended the notification to Airmen (Notam) which limited all commercial and private passenger flights directly from India to 21 September 2021, 11: 59 PM EDT.
“Special cargo operations, medical transfers or military flights are not included,” he said.
“Until September 21, 2021, passengers traveling to Canada from India through indirect routes need to get the results of the Covid-19 molecular test negative pre-departure from third countries before continuing their journey,” added Transport Canada.
Furthermore, said travelers who had previously tested positively must provide proof of positive molecular tests carried out between 14 and 90 days before departure, instead of negative test reports.
“This evidence must be obtained in the third country before the continuation of a trip to Canada.
You might need to search and live in the third country for at least 14 days,” he added.
Also, the Canadian government continues to monitor the epidemiological situation and will work with the Government of India and flight operators to ensure the right procedures are placed to allow safe direct flights immediately after conditions allow, the release said.
