New Delhi: Canada has extended its prohibitions from flights from India a month to 21 September 2021.
Tourists leading to India to Canada through several other countries will require a Covid negative test report from the transit country before taking off for purpose.
However, special cargo operations, medical transfers and military flights from India will continue to operate.
Canada has suspended all commercial and private passenger flights from India on April 23 when the second Covid-19 wave hit India.
Since then the reopening date has been postponed several times.
In a statement, the Canadian government said on Monday (August 9): “Based on the latest public health advice from the Canadian Public Health Agency, Transport Canada extends notifications to Airmen (Notam) which limits all commercial and private passengers directly flights to Canada from India to September 21, 2021, at 23:59 EDT.
All commercial flights and personal passengers directly to Canada from India are subject to Notam.
Cargo special operations, medical transfers or military flights are not included.

This means that passengers who leave India to Canada through indirect routes will continue to be asked to get a valid Covid-19 pre-departure test from the third country – Besides India – before continuing their journey to Canada, “added That statement.
Canada said “continues to monitor the epidemiological situation carefully, and will work with the Indian government and flight operators to ensure proper procedures are implemented to allow direct returns immediately after the requirement to allow.”
