Hong Kong: Canada warns its citizens on Thursday that Hong Kong authorities can prevent people from leaving the city under the new laws that have raised concerns about the ban on China’s mainland style.
Law, giving the power of the head of immigration to make people from aircraft up and from the city, it comes into force on Sunday.
“Under this amendment, individuals, including foreigners, may not be able to leave the region,” said the Canadian travel Twitter account.
Tweets that are linked to the updated Ottawa Advisory published on Tuesday which specifically mentions new rules.
“You might not need to realize that you are the subject of limiting movements until you try to leave Hong Kong,” the adviser said.
“In the absence of clarification of laws, these new powers may relate to investigations into individuals, their families or employers, and criminal and civilian problems.” What is called “Prohibition” is often used by mainland China to activists who challenge authority.
They also trapped business people involved in commercial disputes.
Some western countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have criticized the law but Canada is the first to explicitly call the risk of prohibition out in travel advisor.
The Hong Kong government said that the law would not be applied to people who left the city and were intended to stop illegal immigrants who arrived in the city.
But those words did not limit the power to arrive flights or immigrants, and legal experts said it could also be applied to anyone who left Hong Kong.
In the potential recognition of this concern, the Hong Kong government in April said that it would develop additional laws that determine that the law will only be applied to entry flights.
